CHRISTIAN
EDUCATION
All
Sunday School classes meet at 10:00 AM.
Nursery
is available during the Sunday School hour
and the 11:00 AM service.
Immanuel
offers Sunday School classes for adults, youth and children. The children's
classes are organized as follows:
- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
- First and Second Grade
- Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade
Youth
classes are for sixth graders and above.
The
children's classes are based on the Episcopal Children's Curriculum.
This curriculum uses Biblical story telling, the study of church traditions
and participation in worship to teach Christian faith and what it
means to live out the covenant made in Holy Baptism. The curriculum
extends over nine years for children from ages 3 to 11. Lessons are
organized around the seasons of the Church year and draw from The
Bible, The Book of Common Prayer, the hymnal, church liturgy and tradition.
ECC lesson plans offer a variety of fun activities that help children
grasp important concepts.
The
youth group focuses on outreach ministry activities and discussions
about self-discovery, finding a place in the world, God's purpose
for us, and what it means to be a young Christian adult.
On
March 1, 2009 the adult Sunday School class began a Lenten study.
Join us as we read and discuss Tim Perry's Blessed
Is She: Living Lent With Mary. Based primarily on the Gospel
of Luke, this thought provoking book reveals a Lenten Mary who teaches
us about what it means to be disciples. Perry presents a Mary who
belongs in Lent as much as in Advent. Men and women alike are invited,
as we explore what it means to die and live with the crucified and
risen Jesus.
