The
following is a partial listing of our ministries. Please contact
us if you would like more information.
Acolytes
Acolytes
enhance the worship at Immanuel by assisting with serving the altar,
leading the processions, and helping the rector as needed in the service.
Training sessions for acolytes are held periodically where clergy, adult
leaders and experienced acolytes teach new recruits about their part
in the liturgy. Parishioners, ages 8 years through adult are welcomed.
Please refer to the newsletter for the Acolyte
schedule.
Altar
Guild
The
Altar Guild prepares the church for worship services. Members serve
on monthly teams to set up the altar for all church services.
Chalicers
and Eucharistic Visitors
Chalicers
assist by serving the wine during communion. Eucharistic Visitors take
communion from the worship service to members of the Parish not able
to attend worship.
Lay
Readers
Lay
readers read the scriptures and lead the prayers of the people in the
worship service.
Loaves
and Fishes
Loaves
and Fishes is a fresh way to look at our outreach ministries at Immanuel.
By having a scriptural focus, we feel this parish can better distinguish
where God is calling us to serve. Among the ministries that we participate
in are Cornerstone Development Center, located at St. David's Episcopal
Church in Aylett, and Hanover Habitat For Humanity.
Newcomers
Ministry
The
Newcomers Committee facilitates opportunities for people who are new
to the parish to learn more about parish life and to meet parish members.
Committee activities include greeting visitors, distributing information
about events and activities, organzing gatherings, and fostering a welcoming
environment.
Shrine
Mont Committee
The
Shrine Mont Committee helps to plan our annual parish retreat to Shrine
Mont , which is our diocesan conference center located in the Shenandoah
Valley.
Ushers
Ushers
assist with the preparation of the church for worship, distribution
of the service bulletins, seating of the congregation, collection of
the offering, and assist members during Holy Communion. There are usually
two or three men or women who serve a month at a time.
